PlayerLync’s Platform Delivers a Slice of Success to Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom

Industry Leader’s Mobile Content Delivery Solution Revolutionizes How Old Chicago Trains Employees and Drives More Consistent Guest Experiences

Denver, CO – PlayerLync, the industry leader in mobile content control and teamwork, today announced that Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom has streamlined and revolutionized its training and operations initiatives using PlayerLync’s tablet-based content control and review platform.

Old Chicago, a division of CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries, Inc., operates 60 restaurants nationwide and has 30 franchise operations. The chain has been using iPad technology to help train employees with food preparation and other back-of-house (BOH) processes. However, Old Chicago was using multiple applications to get the job done, and that piecemeal approach was falling short. Videos were difficult to reliably distribute and employees could not quickly or realistically view those files without an internet connection.

PlayerLync’s solution, which took less than a month to implement, greatly improved the way Old Chicago’s trained its BOH employees at all 90 locations. Videos and other documents automatically downloaded to iPads; and workers didn’t require an Internet connection to view the content. BOH employees are now using the PlayerLync platform to easily-and immediately-access files at any time during their shifts.

“With our previous solutions, we weren’t able to fully leverage the mobility of the iPad,” says Regan Arntzen, Old Chicago’s Vice President of Training and Development. “Thanks to PlayerLync, our teammates can simply pick up an iPad and instantly have a guide and immediately access everything they need to do their jobs. The transformation has been amazing.”

PlayerLync’s single solution comprised all the functions that Old Chicago previously needed multiple applications to operate. For example, Old Chicago’s distribution of files is now tightly controlled: Old Chicago uses test restaurants to determine if new items and/or procedures should be adopted prior to rolling to the entire brand. PlayerLync affords the option of having the new recipes and procedures only appear at the test restaurants. This was not achievable with the company’s previous cloud-based file sharing system.

Employees would have to search through hundreds of files to locate the content specifically meant for their location or job role.

“Old Chicago has so many documents, and some of the content changes rapidly,” says Bob Paulsen, PlayerLync’s CEO. “All these documents are important for BOH employees to learn and to stay sharp at their jobs. Before implementing our solution, Old Chicago was unable to efficiently share this info with their workers. But with PlayerLync, employees have an ultimate guide to BOH operations as close as an iPad, and Old Chicago can precisely control what each location has access to. The company is using our solution more than any other organization outside of professional sports, and we look forward to continuing this successful relationship.”
