When hiring staff, it is important to remember how much of their learning will take place on the job. Even the most talented and promising hire will only prove effective if they adapt to a company and learn new skills while they are working. That is why microlearning is such a vital part of any company’s training program. Here are a few ways that a company can use microlearning within their training program.

1. Online Training Simulations

Throwing staff into the deep end on day one is not such a great idea. But it is still important for them to learn interactively. Setting up online training simulations would allow staff members to see how their decisions can have a positive or negative impact on the company. It can be a small situation, such as a customer asking for a change to their order. Or it could be a larger issue.

2. Contrasting the Right and Wrong Methods

Training videos that show customers how they should and should not interact with customers are extremely effective. Why? Because they provide a visual representation of what should be done, and what behaviors should be avoided. Just because the person who a company hired has worked in this field before does not mean they know the company culture. Something that was acceptable at their previous job may not be tolerated here. It is always important to establish do’s and don’ts for new employees – and training videos are the best demonstration.

3. Create Scenarios Based on Customer Personas

Every customer is different in how they behave and react. As an employee on the front lines, a new hire will have to deal with all these customers. That means knowing how to respond to each personality type. Again, training videos and simulations can provide the ideal learning ground. Scenarios can involve introverted, anxious, angry, sad and happy customers – showing an employee how to best interact with each of them. Employees who can make all types of customers happy are the best kind of employees!

4. Infographics for New Trends or Guides

Company policies are always changing. Whether it is because of a new technology, product, service or some other reason, employees may have to change the way they do their jobs. Infographics are a wonderful way to teach new employees the basics of a new trend or guide. Infographics are easy to understand, visually appealing, and contain all the necessary information for employees to learn the basics of the new part of their job.
